Projects 2010

The Mannar Welfare Association UK had an initial campaign to raise funds in order to support the cause of the Association during 2010 and was successful in raising a substantial amount. Further the below detailed projects were implemented, and the collected funds distributed to the beneficiaries by MWAUK Sub-Committee in Mannar.

• A sum of Rs. 360,000.00 was donated to Mannar Adampan Madhya Maha Vidyalayam in support the salary payment for two Advance level teachers for a period of one year.
• A sum of Rs.180,000.00 was donated to the Bishop of Mannar Bishop His Lordship Rev.Dr.Rayappu Joseph to support his projects towards the needy children.  
• A sum of Rs.65,000.00 was donated to Mannar Thevanpitty RCT School for the purchase of exercise books, uniforms and bicycles.
• A sum of Rs.50,000.00 was donated to Mannar Thiruketheeswaram, Settukkulam School to build a fence around the school.
• A sum of Rs.30,000.00 was donated to Mannar Sornapuri Government Muslim School to build a fence around the school.
• A sum of Rs.30,000.00 was donated to Mannar Vaddakkandal GTM School to support a teacher to teach the extra classes after school for 6 months.
• A sum of Rs.30,000.00 was donated to Mannar Karungkanddal RCT School towards an allowance payment for a teacher of computer studies for a period of 6 months.
• A sum of Rs.30,000.00 was donated to Mannar Joseph Vaz Mahavidyalayam, Vidathalthivu towards an allowance payment for a teacher to teach Mathematics in after school classes for a period of 6 months.

To encourage the young talents in the UK, the Association was able form a football club which consisted of two young teams. The committee members have shown their generosity by ways of donating football jerseys and sponsoring the matches financially to support the travelling, food, ticket & registration fee costs.
